Rooibos: (Aspalathus Linearis) Though technically not a ‘tea’ as that is the distinction of the camellia sinensis plant, it is truly a wonderful beverage that the whole family can enjoy anytime of the day or night.
Location: First organically certified farm in the Cedarberg Mountains of South Africa. The grower is a 3rd generation farmer that practices ethical and sustainable means of production. Hand harvesting at the peak of its nutritional cycle.*
Benefits: There is no caffeine in Rooibos thus great for those that want something different in a warm beverage, it is great for children of all ages. It is low in tannins and rich in iron, potassium, zinc, manganese and sodium – electrolytes essential to the body. It has 50% more anti-oxidants that green tea. Anti-oxidants that have been shown to reduce instances of heart disease, stroke and cancer by increasing and enhancing the immune response to the body. Rooibos is very forgiving in how you choose to steep it. It loves to soak in hot water and can with stand a long steeping. Never goes bitter if you have forgotten about it.
